The correct comeback would be "so have I" and high fived him.

My aunts first husband (she’s on #5 at this point) is still close with his ex Mother-in-law and was tasked with driving her to our house for Thanksgiving (his kids were coming to my parents house, as their mom, his ex lives out of town, they were married for 15 years it’s not really weird to have him around).

He’s a good guy but a mess, constantly switching jobs, been to rehab etc. lovable loser type.

We sit down for dinner, I’m going around the table pouring red wine for everyone and ask him if he wants a glass, he says sure. His ex-MIL immediately snaps “you know you can’t drink”. He responds “yeah I went to rehab, the first thing they tell you is you don’t have to obtain, you just have to learn to moderate, I have glass of wine every now and then to stay normal”

At this point, I know it’s going to be good.

For the next hour + he proceeds to tell us about his online girlfriend he met in Gana on plentyoffish.com (she’s in her twenties - if she even exists) how they are going to get married he’s going to get her into college in the states for free, bc he’s a janitor at a private college and spouses go for free. She’s going to take care of him in his old age. Etc etc etc. He even starts showibv us half nude pictures of some supposed women in Gana.

The best part was my mom was sick so didn’t eat with us so me and brothers were able to egg him on the whole time - my dad was just laughing and shaking is head. By far my most memorable thanksgiving meal.

Couple minutes go by then all of a sudden my sister runs out the room starts cussing screaming at said nephew who has fallen through the ceiling over the island in the kitchen. At this point we all stop playing run to the kitchen to see what happened. Sure as shite there’s about a 4x4 hole with insulation hanging out the ceiling
We need pics of the ceiling baw. Would be epic

Unfortunately it’s over. We took some time apart for a few weeks before she finally told me she wants a divorce. I tried everything during that time to show that I’m trying and working in it. I got some of the things done and was starting to work on fixing some of the other things. We had this issue last year and things was getting better or at least I thought it was. I got complacent at some point and it looks like it has cost me.

Hold your head up sir.

Your wife is vastly overestimating her worth. Divorced (or never married) middle-aged women are plentiful. Men who want to provide for their family are unicorns.

YOU are the commodity. SHE is a dime a dozen.

You are going to have to update this story ….I’m pulling for the lovable loser but i feel we all know how this ends! Hopefully he gets at least one good romp for his time

Looks like the kitchen was due for some updates anyway

But hope the kid is okay, that’s pretty funny. My mom did that once thinking she could walk rafters.
