I really wonder how many tourists came here just for the 15 min worth of tv spots over the course of the night. The sugar bowl hurts (like all of the other NY6) when it's not a semifinal, but this year it is, and there half a million texas fans looking for tickets. We won't have any issues filling the hotels this year. This might have actually been a smart move by Billy, to not pay for something we don't really need this year.

Agreed 100%!!

Don't they set up in New Orleans to do central time new years after they're done in NYC? Doesn't make sense to go somewhere that hits midnight before NYC does.

was coming here to say this. Someone has to replace the central time slot. They may have added Puerto Rico, but it didn't replace NOLA.

Being featured on the program is not so much about drawing a crowd on NYE. It is an extended TV commercial for the city to hopefully bring more tourists later.

In the whatever world we live in where shite has to be all complicated. Freedia was asked something towards what do you identify as and his pronouns yada-yada.

Dude responded something like "I'm just a gay guy who dresses in drag, if I had known Drag Queen would make you think I wasn't male I would have used Drag King"

Kindof strange that he has his head screwed on straighter than some.

I mean kinda respect that statement. Not trying to delude anybody unlike the drag Queen storytime types.

Wow you know crime is bad in your city if an event is safer in Puerto Rico.

I feel like they find rotating cities for the CST. I could have sworn they did Nashville one year, Chicago one year, etc.

Some people just have weird fetishes or dress up for an event. One could be a straight guy that just wants to roam around town for a party or participate in a contest dressed like a woman.

I remember several years back there was a local fair that used to have a womanless beauty contest. It was just a bunch of straight guys dressing out in like women for a good time and comedy, no LGBTQ agenda was applied.

Has nothing to do with crime. The area where Dick Clark sets up will be protected heavily with NOPD and state police.

There’s going to be a million people down there between tourists for NYE, sugar bowl fans, and any locals looking for a huge crowd.

Dick Clark isn’t setting up in New Orleans east, this was all about incentives. Scoot is an idiot giving the OT what they want to hear.

That’s still a thing?

Who gives a shite?

The less national exposure Nola gets, the better. Until the government decides to fix issues they don’t deserve big events. Sugar bowl should move too
