Being a leftist, I know simple economics is completely a foreign concept to you. But are you really so stupid you don’t understand the difference between someone working and earning a paycheck and someone receiving a handout?
Let me help you out. If you come to my house, knock on my door and ask for money, if I give you that money and send you on your way without you having done anything to earn that money, then you’ve just received a handout. But if, when you ask for money, I tell you to mow my lawn and then you proceed to mow my lawn, when I give you money then it’s not a handout, it’s payment for services rendered.

And when you get to college you have to keep working to maintain that scholarship. Is it a different sort of work than what a Soldier, Sailor, Marine, or Airman does in their branch of the military to earn their paycheck? Of course it is. That doesn’t mean it’s easy nor does it mean it’s a handout. When someone works and earns their way in life, I don’t care what it is they’re doing, I respect that.

He’s stated multiple times in this thread that he views our service men and women as people doing nothing more than taking a government handout. That’s an insult to everyone who’s ever put on a uniform to stand ready to defend his right to be a complete idiot.

A lot of people back then came from rural areas on in the city where they had to hustle or work for money to pay for basics such as food. They also lived during the Great Depression which made a lot of them thick skinned, and they had grit. My grandfather was in WWI and worked in shipyards during WWII. When you are poor and do not know where the next meal comes from to feed your family, you are willing to work hard for less.
