first episode

boring AF

slow AF

all the women are ugly. not a single one i'd want to see naked. The quality of women has gotten worse with each season.

weird fat lesbian girl makes a lezzie video

Then they start with the racial shite.

Tell me it gets better.

next episode they fly in Margot Robie and she bangs Jodie Foster

Circling back to the poltergeist scene... Just rewatched and Navarro isn't even looking at him when he sits up, she is looking down the hall and the camera is on her looking down the hall and he's in the background.

Shitty videography if they are going to say she is hallucinating.

I feel like it's dug such a hole that I invested half the series in, that I will take the time to see that hole get filled with dirt

I figured they went with this for the creepiness of the shot. It was pretty creepy for sure seeing him sit up behind her. But you're right, I didn't put 2 and 2 together that that would actually eliminate the hallucination aspect. Hallucinations are going on behind her while she's not looking

"If a hallucination happens in the hospital and no one is around to see it, is the man possessed?"

I have no problem distancing it from the other seasons of TD. When I'm watching, the other seasons aren't even a blip on my radar. This might as well be some completely brand new show

I disagree, the producers attached the True Detective name to it therefor setting the expectation bar themselves. IF they go supernatural route, then that is just a slap in the face of True Detective and it deserves to be shite on. Makes me think the Issa show-runner woman blaming bros after just 1 episode is exactly the type of person that would to try to cash in on the name, knowing she can't hold a candle to True Detective, then cop out into supernatural territory and then blame viewers again for the comparisons.
I do agree that if it this was just simply "Night Country" that it would be judged slightly less harsh, but it's still not great TV thus far.

I think I'm in line with most in this thread. It's sufficiently interesting to keep me watching but it isn't anywhere near the greatness of S1 or even the very goodness of S3.

The unattractive women are off-putting. I don't wanna hear about realism of how people in a place like this would look. It's fiction. I wanna look at beautiful people on screen. The boxer covered in tats and looking like a pincushion is distracting.

I'm already preparing myself for the disappointing thud that all the supernatural shite is just toxins from the mine making everyone loopy and causing mass hallucinations.

Just watched ep3. Oof. A lot going on but somehow simultaneously nothing really developing or happening. Random Silence of the Lambs reference/ nod was weird. Exorcist scene was totally random too. The guy freaking out was all kind of ok and workable, but then the switch to possession or whatever was out of place. So much of Navarro just walking around looking intense. So much of Danvers standing around looking pensive. The show needed a strong third episode but we got...that.

Positive note, I think Navarro's character is getting slightly better and the actress is doing an ok job with what she's given. Pretty much everything else is meh.

It's not woke though. I dont know why people keep saying that.

DEI has committed the sin of trying to convince the public unattractive people should be on the cover of glamour or Swimsuit magazines.

Hollywood has followed suit.

Movies are escapism. It's amazing how things have changed... From a Grace Kelly beauty threshold that they knew most saw as unattainable and therefore enticing to watch, to women you'd see at Wallmart in their jammies. It's basic human psychology... People like to watch the pretty people.

Partially agree. More attractive people garner more attention and since they are easier on the eyes they naturally given more leeway for their acting ability.
Flip side it's nice to see authentic representation of an area/people, but when they are unattractive then they better be damn good actors and/or story & writing has to be better.

Plenty of ugly people are good actors/actresses & even singers. Chris Farley, Forrest Whitaker, Zack Galafankis, Jack Black, Paul Giamatti, Danny Devito, Steve Buscemi, John C Reilly.....Tilda Swinton, Kathy Bates, CCH Pounder, Jane Lynch, Sandra Oh, Roseanne
Look at Willie Nelson, man is ugly and not the greatest vocalist, but he tells a great story in his songs. Mick Jagger, Amy Winehouse, & Seal are a couple others.
