This is what my parents did when I made a bad decision driving: made me pay for my own car insurance. I was still on their policy, but I had to pay the difference for me to be on the policy.

If he hasn't been paying his car insurance, he should now and should have to earn the money to pay the rise in that insurance that his stupidity will cause.
