re: How does a defense actually contain Jayden Daniels?

If you watch the Texans QB, yesterday’s game he was 20-26, 263 yards and 2TD’s. He ran 3 times for 20 yards. Jayden is about an inch taller and 8 lbs. less. It won’t take long to add a few lbs. Jayden is closer to him than most. In the NFL, it becomes a full time job. Texans went from a 3-13-1 to a 10-7 team this season. Best of luck to Jayden. An yes, I think he should be the first QB taken.

A traditional LB spy is a sure-fire way to lose a matchup every time. You have to shadow him with a DB to even have a chance, but if you do that he'll find the single coverage.

Confuse him with coverages
Contain with LB’er spies
Hit him when you can

I’m really looking forward to seeing what he can do in the league. I think he’ll stay healthy because seems to me he is easier to square up in the pocket than he is when he is moving — but def needs to keep the slide in mind when running up the middle.

Bruh, the NFL isnt trotting out slow and bulky linebackers anymore. There is a reason you have the new hybrid type like Kwon and White. There are plenty of lb in the league that can keep up with jayden sideline to sideline.

I've been harping on this for awhile. The level at which JD performed in a dual threat role has NEVER been replicated. I'm not going to give you a hard time for comparing to MV as that was my first comparison too but Vick is a scrub compared to JD. 5.9 yards per rush. compared to 8.4 for JD. as a passer Vick was absolutely atrocious. 8 TDs to 6 Ints his last year. I mean it's blowing my mind how bad he was and the light in which I remember him.

You have to think outside of the box to make an accurate JD comparison. He is absolutely equal if not better than Burrow in terms of measureable passing stats. The best QB rusher I could find relatively recently is Manziel and JD is a better rusher than him (stats). The best comparison is if you literally combined Burrow and Manziel into a single person. Even then, JD would be arguably better.

He is 100 percent the BEST dual threat QB ever, by a large margin.

How do you defend him? He's gonna get his so you keep your offense on the field for methodical, prolonged drives to try and prevent that. That or 13 dudes on D. Or 11 and make one of them a headhunter with zero effs to give.

Keep him in the pocket. Change coverages at the snap. Cover the receivers. Pressure up the middle. Don’t rush your ends too deep.
