Satanic Newt balanced the budget, so a bunch of people that disdained the outta control government spending got what they wanted. The pander bears (& agencies) got the potus they wanted: (D) potus. The wars were ongoing, but we were killing all white people, so that's OK.
Everyone got a little back...only about 20% knew what was really going on (no internet) and could hear the great sucking sound. Some people know the fed was a level beyond budget; but righties tend to take small wins and be happy.
I'd say 80% know and feel the sucking sound now; but only 40% are willing to do anything about it (write letters to congress, hit their SM, ETC)
BUT, big GOV has always been trash...remember the feds investigated (for 2 years) the Kingsmen for cranking out a sloppy recording of Louie Louie.
