I don’t think you hire Baker and Davis if you’re not ready to start throwing bags

You have to follow the money
1. The new ESPN deal gives LSU an extra 30mil
2. Hire Baker
3. Steal away Davis
Now granted every school receives the same amount but Louisiana isn’t doing so hot in the economy as of now. This 30mil difference might get used by Kelly a bit better since the other upcoming are using it for facilities
Also it’ll admit im not very smart

What I’m most curious to learn about is how the NCAA’s proposed rule changes on NIL would affect LSU.
If schools can pay athletes directly while exempting athletes from employee status (obvious Title IX loophole is obvious), then TAF can be used — which simplifies a lot of this BS because same people donating NIL regardless.
But if it allows for endowments to be used, that’s a big problem. Especially if they also provide antitrust exemptions, which sounds like it would just make the NCAA the most lopsided league of all time / total financial anarchy / major conflict of interest for universities with academic vs athletic budgets.
Obviously that can’t be the plan… if anyone with insight wants to chime in, I’m happy to listen

I tend to agree.
Many schools can "throw bags" and when has the La economy been great?

Yep once TAF funds can be used we will easily compete with anybody with money. Kind of bs that college football is based on the college town’s local economy right now, but that’s where we are at.

You need some real coaching on rhetoric. Not being a dick.

If they do this, and they create an “antitrust exemption”, keep the league at 80+ teams, they’ve already made it illegal to implement a salary cap…
Seems like that could be even more unhinged than what we have now. No parity, ever + hyper-inflation of budgets at the top end of the league.
I could be wrong — I don’t have a great understanding of the proposal or what they’re vision is.

I don’t think this is sound logic.
TAF pays coaches which are tax deductible donations. Big caveat.
Paying players is not.

All hail Harvard’s return to college football dominance.

Just to be clear - the only way any “antitrust exemptions” come into play is if Congress writes those exemptions into federal law. The NCAA wants that to happen, but they’ve been lobbying for antitrust exemption for years with no success. If anything the antitrust landscape is worse for the NCAA today than it was when they started those efforts.
