He almost retired after last season.

His GF's death really affected him.

Maybe so, but they had split up before she died.

Maybe, but Truex said himself that he's terrible at making big decisions. He followed that up by saying he had been looking at the same fishing boat to buy for 6 years.

That would probably explain why he never officially tied the knot with Sherry. Honestly, I think he was closer to retirement a couple of years ago when he missed the playoffs and she was sick again.

Now, he's coming off a regular season championship, and he's had a new squeeze since last year. Hell, he's 2nd in points right now without a win. I think he might keep hanging around if he believes a second championship is realistic.

He's still running at the top of the field damn near every week and he'd have a couple of wins already if his CC hadn't gone full retard.

I think he has a good 2-3 prime years left in him.

Agreed. Some people act like his retirement is imminent, but I think he's just a procrastinator, which I can personally relate to.

Now, would it shock me if he called it quits after this season? No, but it wouldn't shock me if he kept going for 2-3 more years either.

He needs Cole Pearn back on the box. They were magic.

He's 44 at the end of June. I think another 2 years after this is realistic.

I only say he’s retiring this year because he’s just the type to say frick it. He finally bought that boat.

Plus the way him and Joe interacted at Richmond… that came across to me like a guy that didn’t care if he was racing next year.

He 100% retires if he wins it all. I’ll go on record saying that.

Sheldon Creed - Legacy 42 (If JHN goes to Gibbs when Truex retires)

Creed has yet to win in Xfinity and doesn't have the killer finishing instinct. He has no business in cup unless he brings money.

I don’t think he’s done anything either. I listed him because I can’t see legacy being ok with picking up guys that are Gibbs guys. Creed is not a Gibbs guy long term. Plus creed and JJ have a bit of a similar background.

And he does bring money.

Keselowski’s Castrol throwback is giving me nostalgia for Gran Turismo on PS1

13 second gap between 1st and 10th. Over 7 seconds between 1st and 3rd.

Oof.
