biggest plus for me, was the paddles on the back where you rest your fingers.. I changed these to be my LB/RB and id pay 1000 for the next model if needed
So you’re so happy with the customization and specialities of things as unthinkably strange but are surprisingly useful (ie. The trigger point adjustments I’m sure)

I think the consensus is Elite 2.

Is there possibly a more expensive controller I could compare it to and see what it has versus a $300 unit?

You can also adjust joystick tension on the Elite controllers. The elite 2 is probably the way to go. I'm not sure if they have any of the same issues as the Elite, such as RB/LB double registering/stick drift forming very quickly, but make sure you have a warranty on it just in case. For me, the 4 paddles on the back were too close to each other and I would constantly hit the wrong one on accident, so I removed the 2 I wasn't using.

On the scuf instinct pro, the back has physical buttons, not removable paddles. For some that makes a big difference. Take a trip to your local best buy and they should have both the elite and scuf controllers there with a model that you can hold and feel out for yourself.
