Been through 2 but didn’t really see them.
Driving to work about 5:30 AM 5-6 years ago in the pouring rain on country back roads. Rain is coming sideways and there are branches/twigs flying so I stop in the road. Vehicle starts rocking from the heavy winds and I caught a branch right across the top part of the door/cage area of the vehicle which left a nice dent. Was over in a matter of 5-10 seconds but scared the hell out of me. Passed back that afternoon on my way home and there were some snapped trees, roof damage, and a trampoline up in a tree in the area where I ran into problems.
Last year we had a bad storm coming through and I never heard the “train” noise but my wife says she did. My ears started to pop from the pressure drop and we ducked off into the pantry until things cleared. Went outside and my neighbors toof from his shop was gone (with part of it on my fence). Lot of destruction in the neighborhood with trees down and roof damage. I think they classified it as an EF-3. Passed with 50 yards of my house but we only had some downed fence and a little bit of roof damage from flying debris.
