On 2/2/2024, the Mandeville Police Department responded to a report of a shot being fired in the 3800 block of Hwy 22 during the Krewe of Eve Parade. This incident resulted in a juvenile obtaining a non life threatening gun shot wound. Following this incident, several persons were detained and questioned. No arrest have been made at this time as this is still an active investigation. Investigators are working diligently at this time and MPD would also like to thank assisting agencies for their quick response. This is 100% true, and i dont understand why it seems like most people are too blind to see it …. It’s a tale as old as time.. i am old enough to remember, as a very little kid in the late 1970s/early 1980s- riding near places like the Desire projects and the Magnolia projects, and being told to lock my doors- but that places like Metairie and Kenner were safe.. not untrue back then obviously.. then it morphed into ‘the Southshore is dangerous’ but the Northshore is a utopia.. eventually it’ll be - “Ya gotta keep going north to Folsom or Bush, La- that’s where it’s safe”…. I dont have all the answers, far from it- but to keep tucking ur tail and running further and further away just seems to me like a lazy solution .

Maybe a short term solution is to put a trap door in the north bound span, if you are convicted of X,Y,Z or a low credit score the door opens and you fall into the lake.
