In no other sport can you overcome multiple post season losses to win a championship. Basketball and football are one and done. You need just as much luck there too.

Why does everything have to be compared as the greatest of alltime?.... just enjoy the championships on their own merits.... and yes 2019 football and 2023 baseball championships were the greatest.

I didn’t read all 4 pages so someone may have mentioned this. Most of you are too young to remember the 1991 national champs or just choose to ignore since the 2023 team is the most recent. The 91 team went 8-0 in the ncaa tournament with ONE close game. They steamrolled their way to the title.

Even better than 2019 football
No

We didn't win the SEC or SEC tournament. We were set to win game 1 (Skenes), then scratch out a way to win 1 of the next 2 in a weekend series. There was a stretch late in the season where if it wasn't Skenes pitching, we were going to give up 10+ runs to the opponent.

Now, the team WAS built to win in the postseason. You win the home regional, then go back to 2 of 3 for the super- Skenes set up well there.
Then, Omaha with the big dead park allowed our pitchers to shine (without SEC umps calling a bottlecap strike zone). We had guys throwing junk pitches that the hitter teed off on, but could not generate the power to get it out (except Florida once).

It was a great, fun season that culminated in a title. We've had periods of dominance in baseball (and football) where it was more impressive.

Arguably the greatest LSU “baseball” championship considering the teams we beat in the World Series.
I’ll give you that.

The 2019 team NEVER at any point in the season trailed in the 4th quarter or the other team had the ball with a chance to take the lead. It doesn’t get any more dominant than that. There were no come from behind games, etc. The only game that was “close” was the Auburn game.

The CWS was pretty amazing, but the season, overall, was frustrating actually.

You cant be serious?

It was “Frustrating” to you for LSU to be the #1 ranked team for 2/3rds of the season (Top 5 ALL YEAR) & then dominate in the postseason & win their 7th Natty?

Just for my enjoyment: What would you have considered a non-Frustrating season? Let me guess, go undefeated & Win every game/series?

Do you not remember the late season stretch where we lost to Miss State and Auburn (teams that weren't very good), because we couldn't get an out if Skenes wasn't pitching? People were ready to hang the coach at that point.

They were preseason #1....that's hardly an underdog story

Yeah, I'd put this in with the "frustrating" parts.

We were preseason #1, we were SUPPOSED to win it all. That's what the preseason prediction was.

We did not win the SEC regular season title, that was a disappointment.

Imagine being preseason #1 in football, NOT winning the SEC title, not making it to Atlanta even, but we make the playoffs. We then win the playoffs.
That ultimately would be a great season and we'd have a title. It would not be greatest in school history, because we've had teams with more accomplishments along the way.

To the person who says "but look who they beat"... if you're the greatest ever, you don't look at who you beat, because you're SUPPOSED to beat everyone. Saying we had to overcome Wake Forest- that means it was up for discussion that we'd lose to them. We've had seasons where it didn't matter who we'd play, the general understanding was that we'd smoke them all.

do be fair we finished a half game back of Florida and Arkansas to win the SEC and played 1 less game.

We play 3 against SCar and we possible are co champs.

Correct they won those games. Where as baseball lost 2 gimme games. No reason they should have lost those.

You simply can’t compare baseball and football like that.
The best team in football has a far greater chance to win every game they play than baseball.

The best team in baseball will lose games every year.
Every baseball team that has ever played lost games to teams less talented to them. In ‘23 some of this could be because of the pitching injuries, but some of is just “that’s baseball”.

Tommy the Tank White's walkoff is right behind the Warren Morris walk off. However, "the catch" by Pearson against Florida in game 1 probably savaged the Championship.

That's all fine and good, but we won 19 SEC games, behind 2 other teams who dealt with "that's baseball" too.

I won't hold the SEC Tournament against them, since nobody good wants to burn arms there.

It was a great collection of talent, that came together in the postseason. But it wasn't the best season ever, for any sport- which was the claim.
2019 football made a run that was better, from start to finish. The low points that season were competitive games we won, whereas the low points of 2023 baseball were getting worn out against meh teams when Skenes wasn't pitching.

Hell, baseball has better seasons. 97 we went 57-13, to set a school record for wins. Won the SEC with a 22-7 record, won the CWS. Set NCAA records for HRs with 188, had a HR every game.
Was this against a weak SEC? NO. Alabama was #2, finished 20-9 in SEC, 56-14 overall, and we had to beat them in the finals. Auburn and Miss State were Top 10 and also made the CWS. Fla and Tennessee were ranked in the top 25.
Yes, that was the year we lost at Alabama 28-2 . I remember that game, as my brother and I went to Tony's to get some crawfish, and it was on the radio. I think it was still the same inning when we got home as when we left. But as you say, "that's baseball". And we got our revenge in the CWS.
