When Dan Rather interviewed Saddam Hussein before the Iraq invasion, he made the claim that a large number of people in his country would never accept our troops as liberators and would fight us with ferocity for the rest of their lives, regardless of their feelings about him. He was 100% right. Had our political class heard that and actually analyzed that statement, it may have saved us from that 20 year foreign policy blunder. There's a time and place for listening to your enemies.

I'm not saying we shouldn't listen to him. I'm just not willing to give him the benefit of a doubt that everything he says is Gospel
