Choosing to receive at OT (never in any permutation an advantage)
Y'all have got to stop with this shite. If it's still a tie after the first two possessions, going first gets you the chance to win it and Mahomes doesn't get another shot.

All I can remember for KC was 2 of them: Mahomes pick and the Mahomes fumble. I can't think of anything else. That's 2 vs 5.

That's unguaranteed. You play for what's in front of you and guaranteed, and that's only 2 drives. The 2nd team gets 4 downs and 1st team gets 3 downs. That is the only guaranteed thing and what you have to play for.

Although that extra point wouldn't have let KC tie it up with a field goal, it would have changed the way that they managed that drive and go alone situation. Maybe the Niners stop them and win but it's also possible that the Chiefs get a TD and the game never goes to OT. It's hard to say that it cost them the game when they had opportunities after that block and they couldn't get in the end zone.

If you're ranking most likely outcomes after the first two possessions, "neither team scores" is most likely the highest probable outcome.
Only saying most likely because I hate speaking in absolutes,

I don't agree that neither team scores is the most likely outcome in an OT. This game showed both scored, but in general don't think that

Because running the football does not score touchdowns when inside the opponent red zone. Defenses stack the lines with less field behind them. They lost bc they didn't score inside the 20. Running would've been a bad decision. It was just a lack of QB talent and maybe O line.

You seem confused. The field shrinking affects the passing game way more than the rushing. Redzone TD percentage is almost always tied to rushing stats. Teams that run the ball well typically score at a higher clip in the redzone.

Top 10 in Redzone TD % this year:

1. San Fran
2. Detroit
3. Miami
4. Buffalo
5. Washington
6. Arizona
7. Baltimore
8. La Rams
9. Philadelphia
10. Cincinnati

2023 Rushing Stats

You’ll see most of those teams all over the top 10 in the rushing stats.

You lose more than you win with that train of thought, because while they are not guaranteed, they are far more probable than a two possession game termination.

Nah only thing that cost 49ers the win was the blocked extra point. They hit that and they win the game

I missed the rule that forces the first team to kick on 4th down

Not running the ball after the turnover coming out of half was the biggest mistake. All the other stuff sucks, but that’s gonn haunt Shanahan

agreed. the toss play was killing KC all night and they didn't use it in that situation. turnover right out of half time with a lead and 2 three and outs in a row without a single run play.

i get you wanna mix things up but why not force them to stop the best RB in football.

you have the advantage, run it and make them stop you. KC gave up third most YPC the final 8 weeks of the year and somehow teams in the playoff just refuse to keep running it against them

Opening up the 2nd half with all pass plays for 2 drives wasn’t the best choice. Shanahan likes abandoning the run at the worst times.

If the 49ers had won you could have made a similar list for KC.

I could only come up with two.

1. Pachedo red zone fumble.
2. Numerous low and lousy snaps from Humphries. Particularly on the play before the field goal but it was a pretty consistent problem all game long.

Every obvious pressure situation from Spags they never ran one.

That's because Spags is a Defensive Genius. We know this is true because Sean Payton fired him.

pretty sure the 2019 AFC championship game in KC says permutations can suck it -

Patriots win toss for OT - take ball - score a TD to win - Mahomes stands on sideline at Arrowhead helpless as the loss occurs never touching the ball in OT -

if there's one game you want to make sure you have a possession in OT - it's the Super Bowl - win the coin toss - absolutely take the ball -

The rule guarantees both teams get possession now.

how was I supposed to know that with Taylor Swift at the game and Usher on roller skates?

had no idea it only took the NFL 3 more post-seasons to change the rule after the 2022 Bills/KC game -
