Do we win another Super Bowl if we keep Spags as DC instead of firing him for Rob Ryan?

He's worked wonders with the Chiefs. He was put into basically the worst situation a DC can be put into in 2012.

DA was the correct hire (spags being fired led to it) and we would’ve won another SB due to his defense if not for the refs

I don't know that keeping Spags would have caused another Saints SB win, but, IMHO, the whole franchise would be better off today had Spags been allowed more than one season to be with this dysfunctional franchise.

Spags would have brought stability and competence to the Defense for years. Spags would probably be the Saints HC now instead of DA, and, since everybody seems to hate DA (who really has accomplished nothing good as an NFL HC), Spags would probably be an upgrade.

So, I think there's an argument to be made that firing Spags hurt this franchise significantly.

Spags's Defenses now have three SB rings, while, when the 2024 season opens, the Saints will still have Dennis Allen as HC.

So, let's be open-minded and analytical and ask ourselves whether this franchise would be better off today had Spags been given proper time to create a Defense for this team?

Spags was a disaster here. I don't think he fit well with the Sean Payton culture.

What would have won another Super Bowl(s) was trading up a couple spots to draft Mahomes instead of sitting back waiting for him to get to you. I mean it’s not like the Saints weren’t fine giving up first round picks to move up several spots to grab DEs that never panned out.

Re: Spags. The defense was historically bad in ‘12. Had Payton not fired him we would have revolted. If he’d have turned the defense around, who knows. But at the time it seemed like the obvious choice to move on.

He seemed like a completely different coach back then. It was not the right chemistry or the right time for him then.

His defensive play calling has changed the past decade.

What once was a vehemently opposed blitzer, is now willing.

Spags is very, very happy that Sean Payton fired him after only one season in which the HC was suspended from the team.

But, the franchise is still suffering with Dennis Allen, who is a consequence of firing Spags.

Spags is the first NFL DC or OC to win 4 Superbowl rings.

Saints say "He sucks".
