Man, frick Proteus. Bunch of pretentious, stingy douchebags. Every year they throw the same red or white cups and the same light up beads. Complete waste of time. My kids went from “throw me something mister” to “will anyone throw anything?” Float after float… we’d watch them not throw a single thing for over 2 blocks. And their floats are old pieces of shite. I’m done with them. I’ll be sure to get out there for Orpheus only going forward.

As a kid in the 70s and 80s, the worst parades were the weekday parades Uptown. Those frickers would be go by so fast.

My dad is in D’Etat so that’s 1A and Tucks is 1B for me. I’ve ridden in D’Etat before and had a blast and some of my buddies and I are trying to join Tucks for next year so fingers crossed that happens.

Also, as far as walking parades go I marched in Chewbacchus this year and had a great time. Very underrated.

Tucks is a lot of fun. It's actually calmed down a bit the last 2 years or so. It used ro be an almost riot to ride in. Now it's merely a loud party . A lot of the guys that started it have retired . They were a lot of fun

Tucks, iris & Thoth we’re all underwhelming this season

Underwhelming how?

None of the parades are really known for their float designs like Endymion or Bacchus or satirical themes like d'Etat or Chaos.

I ride in Thoth, so can't speak to how it was viewed.

It felt like my kids got less throws this year at Iris/Tucks, but I think that has more to do with riders throwing less and less beads each year.

My daughter caught a ton of throws from Iris, but not many beads. We just coasted for Tucks because she caught so much from Iris, so I can't speak to the level of throws from them.

Hermes. I like they only do floats and marching bands. Most throws are above average - no junk really.

Our decreased throws could also be attributed to the explosion of crowds at Iris/Tucks in recent years, too, so more towards middle and back and not up front.

I'm not complaining, though. I don't like having too much stuff to deal with.

That’s because they don’t have “marching Krewes”, it’s all marching bands…

Marching groups are the best part of parades. Costumes, creativity, and spreading joy.
