So, is this some "Official Church Ruling"? If so, my early Catholic upbringing missed that one when getting my knuckles slapped with a ruler by Sister Dominatrix at Catechism.

Do you guys get a choice. We were raised to give up meat(seafood is considered meat), pray twice a day and fast once a week.

I have several categories of things I’m including in a No Buy Lent. Clothes, housewares, anything from Etsy, eBay, & Ruby Lane, no dining out, or picking up food to go, or prepared food from the supermarket.

I’m regretting things already.

Good luck because I'm going to strive to give it up as well.

I quit daily drinking back in December and have only been having 3 or 4 beers a week, usually on Fridays. Going to try and go all of lent without it. Good luck baws. I feel a hell of a lot better without it.

Official church doctrine. Under 13 and over 59.5 don’t have to fast. Not sure, but maybe that has changed since you were younger.

What I always give up for Lent: football. That way, there's no problem with temptation.

2014 - gave up smokes, never had another one.
2019 - gave up drink, never had another one.
2023 - gave up soda, haven't had another one.
Every few years I find a vice that gets in the way of myself and God to eliminate for the 40 days and have stuck with it. This year it's gambling.
