Most diehards are watching from free streaming services on their phone.
But, basketball now is 'in-season" should pick up for the last 25+ odd games.
Pels should hold their exhibition games around the state like Shreveport, Alexandria, Lafayette, Lake Charles and maybe even Biloxi or Mobile. That would generate more viewership and attendance.

I agree. The Saints have done similar things with Shreveport and training camp/game in Jackson. I know there were different circumstances at the time but I think it would be a great idea.

It's just this. People aren't paying for cable anymore. And the vast amount of people who used to have access to Bally's had it through cable. And Bally's could never make deals with YoutubeTV, etc.

And you have to be a pretty hardcore fan to pay Bally's directly. The casual fan isn't doing that.

That might work if people in those regions could easily watch regular season games.

No one watches the Pels b/c hardly anyone knows how to. Hell you can’t even get bars to play their games in the city b/c they aren’t paying for Ballys either.

I’m friends with a lot of casual Pels fans and I can point to two things directly:

1. None of them are spending extra money to watch the team on Bally’s. That’s more effort than they’re willing to put in to watch a product they really don’t care a ton about.

2. Theyre still hesitant to trust the Pels. In all my group chats it’s the same thing, “did Zion get hurt” or “wait till Zion gets tired”

The Pels lost a ton of momentum the last two seasons and fans are hesitant to trust the team.

Bally's sucks balls worse than before this year.

I don't even pay for it anymore and if I want to catch a game I sail the seas. I do catch less games these days but I have less frustration from Bally's fricking up.

I plan to go to more games the second half of the season to make up for it.

I think most casual fans would be quite happy with the product this year. Its the diehards that post here and are invested enough to be contemplating that this team's ceiling might be the 2nd round so it's time to blow it all up and fire everybody.

I agree and understand that this is the sentiment of many on this board, but we've had a team that has sucked for so long that I'm satisfied with being pretty good for once.

If this roster is fortunate enough to get to the playoffs with BI, Zion, Herb, and CJ all healthy, we'll know by the end of this team's season what the future should be.

I'm willing to take our chances against anyone in the west if healthy.

SKC experience is awful.

They should have nuked both stadiums when they had the chance and built a contiguous sports complex/entertainment/retail/food district by old river center connected to convention center/riverwalk/etc.

Yeah I know it will never happen full time but the Suns show all of their games on tv. It would be nice if the Pelicans could do the same for Louisiana and some neighboring areas.

Not defending Ballys here because it sucks but access is the same year to year so a 14% drop shouldn't be related.

The biggest difference from last year is buzz. Pels early rode off season momentum from play in games and were a top 2 seed at the end of December. All that propped early viewership and they likely did well through collapse in January. Thereafter it was likely pretty terrible viewership.

There was no buzz going into the season and little outside of a few in season tournament days. If they keep in playoff hunt then viewership should only continue to pick up from here.

Let's wait until the end of the season to compare.

I tried to sign up for ballys and couldn’t get it to work. I haven’t really watched this year. Sorry but this is the organization’s fault.

Blame Bally's.

Gayle should be fricking livid. This could be our 2nd best year record wise and best year under the bensons yet access to watch the games is limited

Are they talking about a Bally’s app?
I’m totally cool with the Bally’s cable channel through Cox. Paying Cox is well worth the convenience and reliability for me. I like getting games with minimum effort.
I also refuse to watch anything, movie or sports, on a laptop.

I think pretty much every team across the NHL, MLB and NBA that's on Bally's is livid that they got the rug pulled out from under them after Fox sold off everything.

It's such an insane story how a middling media company that specializes in local television like Sinclair wound up with all of these broadcasting rights and completely fumbled the bag. It's the one time I wish antitrust laws weren't a thing because had Disney been able to keep the local sports broadcast rights, it would be housed in their ESPN+ package more than likely. And understandably, not many owners seem willing to pay the buyout to Sinclair.

The Amazon deal should fix things. But it's still ridiculous how this all went down.
