We put the world's most expensive telescope, the eleventy-billion dollar Hubble, into orbit around the Earth. Seems like it should have gotten a slew of 100 mega pixel images of all the NASA debris on the moon.

Proves either trolling, or doesnt understand anything about space exploration.

You don't need lead to protect yourself from the radiation of the Van Allen Belt. The radiation in that part of space mostly comes from charged particles which don't penetrate fairly deeply and can be blocked with even something as thin as a sheet or two of aluminium foil.

Works fine and light weight.

Because the Soviet Union lacked the funding or the national resolve to pull it off. When the Soviets beat us into space with both Sputnik and then with Gagarin, that lit a fire under our asses and we vowed to be first to the moon. Adjusted for inflation, we spent almost $300 billion on the Apollo program. The Soviets didn't have that kind of cash on hand.

By comparison, we have only spent $53 billion on Artemis - the sequel to Apollo.

It boggles the mind to think that it could be faked. The Apollo 11, 14, and 15 missions included dropping retroreflectors on the moon, and now any scientists with the right lasers can point those lasers at the moon and get it reflected back. This is how they have tracked how fast the moon is moving away from earth. In addition, there are telescope images of the lander.

I believe images and videos could've been edited or 'enhanced' for propaganda, but there's actual physical evidence still on the moon for our having been there.

Wonder why the land speed record hasn't been broken in 25 years?

The tech is obviously better now.

The fastest flight speed by a manned craft took place in 1967, despite the tech being better now.

Must be fake.

Funny how no foreign government, with vastly more intelligence gathering resources than you and your googling, has ever seriously disputed the moon landing.

At the hottest part of the cold war too. No way the Soviets would have allowed that to go unchallenged.

Their explanation for that is the Soviet space program was fake too and they didn't want to get exposed themselves.

et tu hulk?

Instead of quoting Wikipedia propaganda on those reflectors you might want to read up on whether we've actually ever been able to use them.

How about NASA.gov link from a couple years back?

quote:

August 10, 2020

Dozens of times over the last decade NASA scientists have launched laser beams at a reflector the size of a paperback novel about 240,000 miles (385,000 kilometers) away from Earth. They announced today, in collaboration with their French colleagues, that they received signal back for the first time, an encouraging result that could enhance laser experiments used to study the physics of the universe.

$53 billion on obsolete single use rockets is something that only a government program can produce.

This thread depresses me. I can't believe how man dumbasses exist that think the moon landing is a hoax. What a failure of our educational system.
