Most people lose money on these warranties. If you get one, make sure to get the best warranty they offer. Look at the list of "covered parts", because they absolutely will not cover anything that isn't on that list. Most don't cover seals and gaskets, which can be costly to replace, so make sure they're covered. Do not forget to mention the warranty every time you bring it to the shop, because they will not cover a repair that is performed before they're notified. Lastly, be aware that none of the extended warranties require services to be performed at a dealership; any reputable independent shop with ASE certified technicians will be able to file a claim on the warranty.
