Retirement accounts really bother me.
I had way more pension to start. It grew way faster.
She barely put aside money in separate accounts even though I told her she should. I put money away regularly.
I am 12 years older and gets to retire in luxury while I will have to work more years.

Sickening.

Sorry you’re going thru this. At least you know you won’t have to live with that person anymore. Think back to things you wanted to do but never go to and live the next chapter how you want. Best of luck going forward bud.

It sucks man. Could’ve should’ve isn’t going to help here. Get a good lawyer And segregate what you had going in, bc it’s possible. It’s a cry once or cry every day situation. Be a good dad. The law is what it is and she’s working the system. Similar to the people who took the covid money and never missed a day bc they fit into an income range but those outside the range who were let go didn’t get shite. If you made it once you’ll make it again. She may be the reason you didn’t have more. Pussy is undefeated

Texas here.

Doesn't matter. I started 401(k) at 20 ish years old, she didn't contribute nearly the entire 11 years we were married, and spent money to the point where I couldn't fund my own retirement for over five years.

I can't wait until when my kids stop hating me, when I explain why I'm giving them frick all for college in (let's track how much I paid your mom in the last ten years and ask where that money went.) Hundreds of thousands of $. But I'll still be the a-hole. I won't explain it until they're adults. Sure, daughter, go to Vanderbilt for a Creative Studies degree or some shite. Bye.

On the plus side, every 40 ish girl I have met is DTF, and nearly demands it. So there's that.

Especially if there is a girl involved, be *very* careful about dance expenses. I agreed to pay for half of activities, but in a 30 day period, I ended up (my HALF) paying my ex $1300, including for my half of a $190 track suit for a competition. Which I wasn't invited to.

They seem to have to many calculations and such for other things I’m surprised they can’t allocate in a comparable basis based on each’s contributions. Or maybe that’s the attorney’s job to demonstrate?
