I am not. Since its my first fast, im approaching it very cautiously. Weight loss is plateauing a bit. 61 hours in and down 12 pounds. That said, my body continues to get leaner. Ill send one more update and that will be when I finish this thing.

Deep into it. Got some serious autophagy going on.

12 lbs of what would be my main question
Certainly, it isn't all fat although a significant portion of it would have to be.
ETA - I was thinking of doing this over Easter weekend myself and trying to learn more about it. Was going to do a 72 hour one.

From my experience, I lose quite a bit of water on fasts and obviously it rebounds after I break it. I will end up shedding about a lb of fat by the time im done with a 72 hour fast factoring in my last meal and the refeed meal. It also resets my appetite to reduce the sweets cravings which helps my diet afterwards

Straight water. He may lose 2 to 3 lbs of mass depending on his energy expenditure.

I've done fasts several times, about 3rd day it gets easier to keep going and it's pretty intersting what your body continues to excrete even though there's no food going in.
IMO, the key is to phase in and phase out don't just STOP eating and then resume all at once. For me, I start a day or two before by switching to eating nothing but raw fruits/veggies, then reduce the amounts, and THEN the actual fast begins. Likewise, I learned the hard way after a lenghty fast that it's a bad idea to just jump right into what you usually eat. So after that, I phase OUT of the fast the say way I phase IN.

I'm most interested in your plan for how you break this fast, what's the first 12-24 hours look like? I once thought fasting was a great tool for me to use because I can easily go long periods of time without eating. I had to accept that I was wrong because I never had an effective plan for breaking fasts.
Before it had a name(or I was aware it had a name), OMAD, was what I did. I drank black coffee all day, and then ate one huge meal. That's why IF was so easy for me to adopt years ago, 16hr fasts and 8 hour feeding windows are easy for someone that is used to doing all their eating within a 3-4 hour window with a 20ish hour fast every day.
I tried longer fasts like you're doing and those were surprisingly easy, but I couldn't transition out of them, so the weight loss was never sustainable. In a way it just enabled me to further indulge unhealthy binge eating habits. I'm interested to see how you transition into maintenance.

First day back you should consume no more than half your normal calories. Day 2 can be a normal caloric day.
I typically break my fast by adding fat to my morning coffee (coconut oil/butter). Later, I'll consume sauerkraut. After the probiotic, I'll eat steamed broccoli and carrots to give the probiotics fuel. Then, after some time, I go with a protein like eggs or salmon. If you're nervous about a solid meal, sub bone broth for the protein.

Fasting will probably continue to intrigue me, but I'm almost certain that I'm completely finished with ever doing it myself. I also feel the "returns on investment" aren't there for me, but I'll listen to anybody else who has a good plan for how to make it work. Being consistent with a moderate caloric deficit is what works best for me.

Yeah fasts are a lot of willpower and inconvenience for the return on aesthetics. I think if you really need to clear your mind, do a reset, get some of the anti-cancer benefits, etc it can be worth it. If someone already has great habits, its probably not worth it
*If I was 100 lbs overweight, id defintely consider a long 10+ day fast.

Well guys, 68.5 hours is what it ended up being. Fruit smoothie with yogurt for dinner. Lost a total of 12 pounds and do feel much better. Ill have yogurt for breakfast, salad for lunch tomorrow. Tricky part will be dinner with the family. All in all though id like to continue the positive momentum and get down another 25 pounds or so.

Thats awesome! Definitely use the after effects of the fast to your benefit. If you desired to go the low carb route or the OMAD route, youll find you will have a lot of momentum as your body has already been using fat as fuel for a while and youll be decently adapted. Fasts also get easier, the more you do them.

3 day water only fasts are incredible for you. I do a 21 day water fast twice a year. Starting over, avoid sugar and processed crap that fda approves. It’s the enemy and will kill you. If you don’t shoot it or grow it, be careful if you eat it. Good job.

Thats wild. You are one of the small minority of folks that possess the willpower and discipline to do something like that. I tried once and got to 8 days.

I've done a 36 hour fast. In my experience, the worst is yet to come.
I'll never do a fast again. I prefer to stay fueled.
Now, I did see a guy who did a raw milk fast. That seemed interesting to me. Raw milk is great for your gut. I assume you wouldn't feel as bad since you are getting some protein and glucose from the milk.

21 days??? Just, how?
It's strange, or was to me, that after about the 3rd day not only was I not hungry I didn't want to eat, didn't think about food, and it took an act of will to restart eating which in a way made it easier to phase back into eating and doing so properly.
