I liked it just as much as TDK and thought Hardy/bane was awesome.

Begins is my favorite of the trilogy, however.

But the opening scene is incredibly done

Again, I like the movie. The plane scene is beautiful and cool to watch but one of the many things upon rewatch that bugs me.

Why does a CIA agent not take the sacks off the heads of two randoms and let him on their plane no questions asked.

Also, how does a CIA plane not have radar to pick up on the plane twice its size that snuck up on it.

The movie is a lot of fun, but the Bane death is so anticlamatic and lame

Didn't they rip most of the elements of the film straight from a number of Batman graphic novels and A Tale of Two Cities?

using the source material and classic literature. That's bad?

Dark Knight Rises sucks

It sucked in theaters and it sucked a few months ago when I watched it again.

The peak is Dark Knight.

This is true, but it calls into question the integrity of the entire trilogy. Bale's Batman simply cannot stand on his own. He is defined by Ledger's Joker. The Dark Knight is almost 100% about Joker and carried almost 100% by Ledger's performance.

It’s the least of the three but still good. I didn’t get the hate at the time.

Also, I have never ever had a hard time with audio in a Nolan movie. People complain and it never makes sense to me.

There are a few things that really take you out of how “grounded in reality” the first two are. Bane’s death is anticlimactic. Cottilard was obviously a bad guy. He should not have been physically capable of leading the charge that shortly after breaking his back. One single blast from the bat bike frees all the cops…. Who are ready to battle hours after months in captivity. Just a lot of jumps that are uneven from Nolan’s normal style.

But I find it to be a satisfying conclusion. Albeit very imperfect.

This trilogy was to be grounded in reality, so it’s harder to excuse plot discrepancies.

It was an entertaining movie but as others said had significant plot holes for a Nolan film.

I think the biggest issue that exists was Nolan’s refusal to admit that the Joker was meant to play a bigger part in the film. He simply tried to deflect from it by saying the character was never planned to be in the film, and his adjustments left it flat.

Hardy as Bane was great but I agree his demise was quite pathetic in the end. For such a buildup, it fizzled at the end.

Colitard was all right but her character was completely transparent and a dead give away unlike some of the others.

They tried to put too much into one movie. This was the problem with a trilogy. Unlike the first two movies where you felt that the characters were pretty well developed and fleshed out, this one was trying to tie in too many loose ends and the film suffered for it.

I also think people look back at these films now and try to compare them to current comic book films and this is just stupid. Batman as a character was always more of a thriller and less hokey than the other comics. It was meant to be a suspense/thriller film more than a comic book film. This runs some people the wrong way because they seem to want Marvel type films and honestly that has become a problem in the genre.

I agree it is the 3rd best of the series, but that is not a knock on it and it is a very entertaining and good film.

Am I not correct in the assumption that The Dark Knight Rises borrowed its plot elements heavily from The Dark Knight Returns, Knightfall, No Man’s Land, and A Tale of Two Cities?

I thought it was retarded in the theater. I was completely taken out of the movie as the plot unfolded.

The wall street takeover and Wayne losing "all his money" due to clearly illegal trades while the market never stopped trading was SO dumb I couldn't take anything after that seriously.

I was like "oh, it's going to be like that, ok"

And yet we excuse the plot discrepancies and conveniences in the first two movies. The truth of the matter is The Dark Knight raised the bar so high for the franchise that it was going to take a grand slam for Nolan to satisfy everyone - especially after Inception was released. He hit a triple instead.

Him talking to Bruce’s parents had to do this to everyone on the first watch.

I think the biggest problem is that it was supposed to feature Heath Ledger and his death kinda fricked things up.

Is this true? Always curious. Nolan was always adamant he took one movie at a time. Never thinking trilogy. Going into DK everyone thought it would lead into Twoface being a new villain. Who carried into another film. The rumors leading into TDKR were crazy.
