It's not like he was facing top tier SEC caliber pitching.

There a reason why the bats have been great.

Correct. It’s so early that individual stats are practically meaningless. He literally has 3 less hits than Milam- Who I really like by the way.

Braswell didn’t hit at S Carolina last year either. I was just hoping he would be a huge play maker defensively and he’s been average there too in my opinion.

You do realize the best hitter in the fall and winter intrasquads was arguably Braswell, right?

Hit .393 this winter

I'm pretty sure we have top tier SEC caliber pitching here.

Too early to tell

There's no point in trying to settle your lineup in February. All of these guys are going to get playing time to see where things settle in April. Players will slump, players will get hot, SEC scouts will learn how to pitch to our freshmen, etc. Just sit back and watch the guys play these glorified practices and stop trying to draw conclusions in February

Brasswell will get every opportunity to play himself out of the SS position. Today we saw the first signs of that, although he will be given plenty more opportunities.

I'll say this, I was impressed with Millam at SS. He had all routine plays, but he made the routine look routine. He is not prototypical in size to what I see an LSU SS being, but he did look good out there today. That shortens Braswells leash some

I don't hate Braswell but right now he is not hitting. .250 avg at SS works. But below .200 is not okay. I am just asking a question. But thanks anyway for whatever you just did.

Way too small of sample size to give up on Braswell's offense. Especially since they changed his swing this offseason and it's going to take some time to get it down. I asked yesterday why Brown pinch hit for Braswell in the 9th. I think Brown is probably gonna wind up being a better hitter than Braswell if he's not already. But it was still an odd move to me because you usually don't pinch hit a lefty to face a lefty. I wondered if Braswell was nicked, Brown just hits lefties so well that the lefty-lefty thing didn't matter, or if Jay is seeing something in Braswell that he doesn't love right now. Him not being in the lineup today just makes it even more curious. There's no way Jay is completely giving up on Braswell at short this early, though.

However, it could just be a way to get Milam in the lineup every day without sacrificing a good OF bat. Milam at SS might be the bet way to get the best bats in the lineup, especially since he's a switch-hitter and gives us another left-handed bat against RH pitching. And we know how much Jay values left-handed bats, and this team is short on them. Again, no way Jay is writing off Braswell this early. But Milam can handle SS defensively and Pearson can handle 2nd. Then you can have thoe 2 there and have Bigham, Brown, and Kling in the OF.

That's probably the best offensive lineup, but it's also probably a tick down defensively from Braswell at SS and Milam at 2nd. Maybe Jay is trying to figure out which option gives us the best chance of winning. But with the odd lefty-lefty pinch hit move yesterday, I'm not ruling out Braswell being a little nicked up right now and needed a day or 2 off. We should know more tomorrow when we see who runs out at short.

It’s just dumb to hate on Braswell for starting out cold when Milam has I think one hit in his last 3 starts.

The absolutism on this board is insane. Both will factor in this season and if I had to bet, will likely be our middle infield when the games begin to matter.

Braswell will continue to get his opportunities. I think everyone was just expecting a little more to start the season based off previous reports.

What more did you expect? It’s not like he is striking out a lot, he’s seeing the ball well, it’s just not finding grass. That shite always evens out over the course of a season.

Kling comes up and bloops one that falls into CF. He is credited with a hit, thus raising his average. The rant retards rejoice.

Pearson comes up (I think that's who hit second today) and scorched one, it was just caught. White does the same right behind him. Both were 0/1. It's the way shite works, and people can't understand it. I think Braswell will be fine, but Milam is nipping at everyone's heels for playing time. His outs have been loud as well.

I'm not hating on him at all. Way too small of a sample size. I am curious on the thinking behind the lefty-lefty pinch hit move yesterday, though. Not just because Brown is a freshman, just that the lefty-lefty is typically the worst matchup possible. Just seemed odd at that point of the game, especially since just the day before Braswell had hit a home run and I think hit another 2 deep to the LF track.

And I also know how much Jay values left-handed hitters in the lineup, and since we don't have that many on the roster, is Mlam at short one way he squeeze another one in. But there's no way anything is set in stone now. The thing that actually makes the most sene to me is if Braswell tweaked a hammy or something and needs a day or 2 to heal up.

But I fricking hate whipping boys--I wanted to fight so many people last year with how shitty they were towards Jobert and Thompson. I really hope Braswell doesn't become that guy this year. South Carolina is a really good program and that was a nice pull. He didn't have to come to LSU and compete--he could have gone to plenty of places and be guaranteed the starting job. I just don't like hating on kids who chose LSU. And even more so so damn early in the season.

Milam has to get reps as he is SS2. I don’t think it’s anything more then that at this point

Yes, give him a few more games.
Do not doubt anything CJ does just yet. He has proven himself. I respect his decisions until we plummet to a losing season.

I didn't think you were. I assumed that's what you were doing. I just wanted to clarify for some of the other guys who might not have been picking up what I was putting down.

People shite on Kramer his entire career until his final year when he could finally hit it out the infield, and then people still shite on him because he was a douche
