There are 4 state parks near St. George.
Sand Hollow State Park One of them is Sand Hollow and you can rent off-highway vehicles and ride around Sand Mountain. My eye doctor and her husband did that and she said it was a lot of fun.

At Zion NP we enjoyed the ride on Kolob Terrace Road to the reservoir. We did that after dinner one evening. This is the road you take to get to The Subway hike but you need a permit to do that.

Couple of pics of Kolob Terrace Road.

It is a little out of the way but from Bryce to Zion you can go by Cedar Breaks National Monument. We were driving from Zion to Bryce and exited Hwy 89 at Long Valley Junction and took Hwy 14, saw CBNM and then took Hwy 143 to Panguitch, then on to Bryce. There are some unusual lava flows along Hwy 14.

We thought Cedar Breaks was pretty cool but we hadn't been to Bryce yet.
