Shogun is a GROUNDBREAKING masterwork of gorgeous visuals and unforgettable performances that is sure to be one of the best series of 2024.

quote:

Shogun is riveting. It’s gorgeous. It’s the TV equivalent of a page-turner.

quote:

Gorgeous and immersive from the very first frame, the new 'Shogun' is a stunning epic that never lets big-budget set pieces overshadow the human drama at its core.

quote:

FX’s updated, sumptuous version of James Clavell’s sweeping novel blends an intoxicating combination of action, romance and political intrigue, majestically spread over 10 parts that, unlike most limited series, sustain that weight and then some.

quote:

Shogun is television at its best, using its budget to create a gorgeous, immersive world but never letting spectacle detract from its emphasis on complex character arcs.

quote:

Shogun is a rare one-of-a-kind show that comes along to prove the power of television.

quote:

‘SHOGUN’ is Certified Fresh at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Described as the “most transportive TV epic since ‘Game of Thrones’.”

O man that's what I like to hear.

Going to start it tonight. One of the shows I've been looking forward to the most. Didn't realize it was just a mini-series, was hoping it would be a multiple season show.

Just finished the first 2 episodes. They knocked it out of the park. Fantastic so far.

What a breath of fresh air, a show with a complicated plot and complicated characters with nuanced motivations. It's the kind of thing Hollywood doesn't seem to do anymore, instead catering to the lowest common denominator.

I'll probably watch it ....later. I'm hesitant because I liked the original from the 80s so much and read the book so the mini was surprisingly very close to the book. I can take/leave Chamberlain, but I'm having a hard time believing anyone could surpass Toshiro Mifune as Toranaga.

as I said, I know I'll cave and watch it though

Solid first 2 episodes. I’m interested to hear how it compares to the 80s series since I was too young at the time to get it. My parents loved it even though I think as someone else said they could take or leave Chamberlain. So far this series is great.

Only knock is I wish I could binge it.

I've watched the first two episodes twice! I am so hooked, this is great television. I have never read the book so I went out and purchased it this weekend as well and am looking forward to it!

Watched the first two episodes this weekend and I absolutely love it.

Might find it's way into my favorite shows of all time. It's that good so far. Great acting, interesting plot line, sets/scene has been awesome.
