We've done both private, and public. Private for quality of schools when around Baton Rouge. Private, and public, in Texas. Last private school was $26,000 per year and used the same curriculum as the local public school system, but our public school option, at the time, was not a good choice. Got creative, and now in a better public school.

My child attends and my wife and I both work in EBR public schools. None of us will ever attend or work at a private school, and we will be just as successful as those saying it is worth every penny to avoid public schools. People think that private schools are some sort of utopia because they deal with people who can afford it, but they still have plenty of their own issues. They just have different sorts of issues because they deal with people with privilege.

For example STM in Lafayette is about $10K per year vs Woodlands Christian at $33K per year.
Taxes all together including property and Mud are $10K per year.

Given the current state of public re-education in America today, I’d say private school or home schooling is a necessity for most everyone who loves their child and wants them to be educated rather than indoctrinated.

No thankfully live I live in a nice, safe area with excellent public schools.
I did attend private catholic school as a child, payments had to sting for my parents.

I would imagine anyone in Louisiana who can afford it, who doesn't live in the 4 or 5 parishes with a pretty decent public school education is sending their kids to private school.
Are I guess charter schools? I know there are 25 parishes with a total of 132 charter schools. I'd say maybe 15 of those are worth a frick, the other ones are taking away funding from the public schools. Charter schools get a lot more per child than the public schools. Public education is a shite show and its really a shame parents have to pay what they pay in order for their kids to get a decent education in a safe environment.

If you don't move after having kids to an area with good public schools then you're basically giving yourself a massive salary reduction.

Same, but I have 2 at CCS for about 8k/year each and 4 yo in day care for abou 7k/yr. 4 yo will be at CCS next year so looking at 24k/yr.
It's a shite load of money but honestly my kids are thriving at school and it's an amazing place. I wouldn't want them anywhere else. Your kids seem like the most important investment you can make

I’ve got two kids in private school. In for a total tuition of 25k and then I end up donating 2500-3000. Kids in Kindergarten and 2nd grad. They seem to be thriving so it’s been money well spent.
