I love spotting aircraft, and always look up or on flight radar to see what's there. Just saw an IAI (Israel Aircraft Industries) Kfir c2 fly over in New Orleans. I heard a rumble, and by sound alone I thought F35, It was that loud. When I spotted it, I saw single tail, and I could easily tell it wasn't and f16 or f4. Flight radar confirmed it was a Kfir. I've also been seeing a few Hawker MK 58's, the regular f15's, and even saw an f18 on Friday.

Most US jets don't show on radar obviously, but trainers and these two did. Anyone know what they are used for or why they are flying around?

That Kfir was pretty sweet. I would love a closer look at one of those and see what it's capable of.

There's an outside unit (F-35's) doing some training at the base this month. The Kfir you saw is a contractor the military hires to play the bad guys.

ATAC

In the coming years... the F-15's are getting replaced by F-15EX's. Bad arse machine.

Most impressive aircraft I have seen in "the wild" was a B-1 that flew over me at low level in Huntersville, NC, right outside Charlotte in 98 or 99.

I grew up with the A-10s out of England Air Force Base doing practice runs on my grandparent's barn in Winn Parish back in the 80s. They did it so much that the horses would try to run with them and they would wag their wings at us if we were fishing in the pond.

Yes they do. Only 3 active stealth in our inventory. They all show on radar, even the stealth but its cross section is so small its like non-existent, but its there.

The rest show. Easily.

Red Air contractors.

The River Rattlers out of NAS NO are one of two remaining navy squadrons trained on red air tactics. Basically the stuff Viper and Jester did in Top Gun. They cross train with contract companies that fly Kfir, A-4s, etc and fight Navy and Air Force pilots.

This is how F-35s takeoff and land vertically.
