I think you may want to check Iowa State and TJ Otzelberger. 2-22 the year before he got there. 22-13 his first year. In the tourney and made it to the sweet 16 his first year after they were 2-22 the year before.

1991 World Series comes to mind.
Even SC men’s basketball is bigger. Not record wise maybe, but certainly in terms of difficulty.

Good for Mcneese. I hope they win a few games and I plan to watch them. But you do realize that it is a little easier to win in the south land than sec. Hopefully LSU will have a good show in the sec tournament and will also play some tournament ball.

Kudos to Wade and McNeese for making it to the tournament. I don't understand why MULTIPLE threads have to be started about him. The bromance that a lot of the posters have with Wade borders on creepy.

How do you define early? The only year we lost to a lower seeded team and didn’t advance is the year Scott torpedoed the program. The other two years we lost a 1 seed in the second round and a 2 seed in the sweet 16.
The narrative that we weren’t good in the tournament doesn’t factually hold up.

McNeese State had been to the NCAAT a grand total of 2 times before Will Wade. Not only has McNeese State made the tourney, but they did so in record fashion in year 0 for Will Wade. It’s year 0 because of the looming sanctions hanging over Will Wade. You can’t be expected to field a competitive team with that dark cloud hanging over the program.
And by the way, Will Wade did win the SEC title as well.

The southland is horrible this year with half the league having 20 or more losses, but I applaud him for taking advantage and securing the automatic bid.
