Free throws are down substantially (as well as points per game) since the All-Star break. The refs are eating the whistle on drives more. Frankly, I don’t love this era of basketball. Where is the defense? So many advantages have been provided offense that it’s evolved the game (with the insane amount of 3-point shooting) to a place viewership is down. PPG went from basically low/mid 90’s per team per game to 115+ per team per game. It’s down about 5 ppg since the all star break.

The scoring is definitely up. But it's cyclical, depending on the rules. In the 90s it was all about defense and the scoring was way down.

But growing up in the 80s, scoring was always high. The were tons of teams averaging over 120ppg. So I don't think its out of control now.

I do like them not blowing the whistle too much and letting the game flow..
