Wont matter at all as long as A) he makes the routine plays and B) him playing there gets a significant bat upgrade in the lineup somewhere else.

Again, this was the thought process in Paul putting Mason Katz in CF in 2012.

I’ve seen him enough to know he tracks balls well enough. Don’t really care about his arm. Booting ground balls in the OF is flukey

Not remotely close. That roster was dog shite compared to this one, and that experience probably cost us a chance at future championships when Mainieri’s PTSD caused him to swing too far in the other direction.

Our OF was not why some of those Mainieri teams didn't finish the job in Omaha.

Stop.

I didn’t say anything about Omaha. I didn’t disagree with some of the in season decisions he made in the outfield, but I think too many roster decisions and recruiting philosophies were based on speed and defense instead of offensive development/upside, following that phase of his tenure. He didn’t adjust back until it was too late for him. More than half of any given lineup we run out this season will still be players he signed or committed here.

For some perspective on my outfield thoughts during that time, I was on the true freshman Andrew Stevenson train when everyone was shitting on him. I also thought Jared Foster was a terrible outfielder, with a strong arm, whose claim to fame catch against A&M was the result of an awful read/route to the ball. Admittedly he made that play because his incredible athleticism made up for his poor skills in every other phase of that play.

I love how you’ll bench Milam who was batting over .300 (has bat and glove skills) but wont bench Kling! Nicely done Lester!!

Squaring up the ball and he is an athletic player. I don't think we have seen a glimpse of what he can be for LSU. Need to find a spot for him.

And he was bad there too.

Weak arm and limited range. I'm not expecting him to boot the ball around like he did in Starkville, but some out balls that are outs with Kling in CF become singles and doubles with Bingham.

C'mon man. I just happened to watch some Bo Jackson baseball highlights a couple of days ago. Would he do?

Not ready to give up on him yet, but platoon/pinch run/defensive replacement let's him work through whatever it is he's dealing with

This team needs Kling to turn it around for max potential.

If Kling cant get it turned around, I’d like to see Bingham in CF and Frey get full time opportunities in RF.

I’m also not over seeing more of Larson and Brown. With Milam cooling off since starting SEC play, I wonder if Jay will move Pearson to 2B to give some more looks in the OF.
