Thoughts on Late Night with the Devil

This is a 90 minute long, somewhat gory Twilight Zone episode. Your enjoyment for the movie will be how much you are ok with that.
The movie is nothing more than its premise. The Halloween episode on a failing 1970s late night show. That’s it. I heard a couple arguing as I left the (surprisingly full) theater.
Lots of pros and cons. Still, worth a watch if you keep your expectations in line. I was expecting something quite different. But it’s a perfectly fine low budget movie that feels like a play.
The movie isn’t as gory or as nihilistic as many horror movies but I still left the theaters with a sense of disgust and uncomfortability.
Does the period piece portion great. It feels like the 1970s.
The early portion of the movie was a bit slow. This really could have been a fair amount shorter of an already short film.
Overall though, I’d say it’s watchable. Just knowing what your getting into in the movie baselines expectations

Definitely plan on watching this one once it hits streaming. I love the premise.

96% on RT out of 112 reviews. I know RT is stupid.

Is it scary at all?
Absolutely not.
This has been one of my most anticipated movies since I first heard its description by Kevin Smith about a year ago.
The movie is fricking awful. Pointless.
VERY LIGHT SPOILERS
Good tension for the first hour and maybe 15 minutes, then you kinda get let in on the joke and it just all falls apart and when it ended, I was pissed.

There is creepy stuff. But the first 25 minutes are so hammy it takes awhile to settle in . Even then, the entire movie feels a bit like too much of a wink

I have no clue what you’re talking about.

More of a sadness or futility. It’s not a feel good movie but in a rather odd way

What’s the point of saying this?

Does the trailer make it out to be something it isn’t?

I by principal try my best to not watch trailers.

LPOTL interviewed David Dastmalchian about the movie, he came across as genuinely appreciative of the opportunity and a nice dude, hopefully it does well.

I always just take the average between the critics scores and the average joe scores. Works out most of the time when picking a movie.

The audience has rated it very high. 7.5 on IMdB and 83% on rotten tomatoes. And that’s with the AI imagery fiasco that lost the movie some good will

Just got out. We really enjoyed it. I thought they did an excellent job making us feel like we're watching an actual 70s late night show. It was really well made. The finale was a bit cheesy, but overall, it's a good time.

It’s certainly grown on me in ways. Still, feels a little too unambitious

It was ok. I liked the style.

I’m not sure you actually saw the movie…
It’s pretty good, not great. I do agree it’s not scary.
