Am I wrong in assuming Russia/Putin to be any ally of Iran? So why would Islamists attack Russia? I do realize there all different flavors of highly contentious Muslims/Islamists. Did the Iranian Mullahs sign off on this?

Russia sided with Syria against ISIS. So assuming ISIS was really behind the attack and not some false flag, I can see why ISIS hates Russia.

No expert on this…..at all……but doesn’t Russia have a tumultuous relationship with the Balkans, which have a huge Muslim population?
