I try to remain a skeptic about this subject, but I've had my own experience.

In the mid 80s I was staying with my Grandparents over the summer. I befriended the neighbor's grandson, and we hung out all summer. His Dad was into hunting coons and as a kid that grew up in the burbs I was curious about going coon hunting. My friend told me it would be boring, but said he'd ask his dad if we could go. Later that night we drive about a mile up the road and turn down a long gravel road. On this road was nothing but an old run-down shotgun house beside a large oak tree that was barely standing.

We turn off into a field to begin the hunt and just as my friend said, I quickly got bored. We decided to walk home. we weren't but a couple miles from my grandparent's house.

As we walk with a bright moon overhead, we pass the old house and I think I see a light in a window. The old house had a window on either side of the door. the little porch, door and windows were mostly still intact, just very overgrown and the roof was falling in. I bring the light to the attention of my friend and as I look up to see if the moon is causing a reflection I hear him just bolt. I look back and the light has moved from the left window into the right window, so I also haul arse out of there. We get up the road and catch our breath and laugh, thinking it was just in our heads, but both agree we saw the light in both windows.

We get to my grandparent's house and explain what we saw and my grandfather says it was likely the ghost of the young bride. He goes on to explain that back in the early 1900s an old miser lived there and owned the surrounding land. A man who had fallen on hard times asked if he could farm the land and pay the man after the crops came up, but the old miser said no. The miser knew the man had a daughter of marriage age and wanted her as payment for the use of the land. The girl marries this old miser and he has a drinking problem. Apparently when he would come home drunk, he would pass out on the porch, and she would shine a lantern in each window to see where he was and bring him in. One night in a drunken rage the man killed his young bride and he was arrested for murder and the house remained there and people said that when anyone would get near or make noise outside of the house the young bride would come with a light to the windows to see if anyone was on the porch of this little shack. When my grandfather was done< I asked him if he was just joking, and he said no. He said ask any of the older residents in the community and they will all tell you the same story. I did ask around and several of the older folks in the community said the story was true.

Fast forward 30 years. I inherited my grandparents house and live in the community. The now owner of the land the old man owned has a granddaughter that built a very large home down the gravel road. Her driveway is beside the oak tree, and I see her husband often and he has told me he sometimes sees a light at the end of the driveway at night by the oak tree. He said he even walked towards the road one night thinking it was someone with a flashlight that maybe needed help, but the light suddenly was gone and he just went back inside.

I wish I had an explanation for this, but I don't.
