Argentine bahia for yard

I have access to a bunch of argentine bahia for my yard. Im looking to seed about 2 acres and have no experience with AB. Will be full sun and currently there are patches of st aug but overall it’s a mixture of crap and stickers. Would AB work in south Louisiana with light foot traffic?

dont know about "argentine" bahia but 80% of my 6 acres is bahia and i love it. its 100% maintenance free and where there's full sun makes a thick, soft lawn

Read this.
Bahia is pasture grass, but can look decent if cared for. It’s usually the fifth or sixth choice on the southern turf grass list.

There is NO way I would plant Bahai in my yard. You will be mowing those stems every other day! Full sun go with Bermuda grass.

Regarding seeheads, this is from another forum.
There are several varieties of Bahia the two most popular for home lawns being Argentine and Pensacola. But the Bottom line is Bahia is considered poor mans grass because because of the lack of care it needs. Both Pensacola and Argentine Bahia are more of a pasture grass. Argentine does make a prettier lawn where Pensacola has tall seed head this time of year that are hard to cut.
Bottom line is Bahia is NOT a Fine lawn turf.
Bahia should be cut at 4 inches but it does look better when first cut at 3 inches. 3 inch mowing are not good and will cause decline in most cases.
Try mowing in the early Morning while the dew is still wet. You might also slow you ground speed to get a higher clip rate and Better cut.

Bahia sends out seed heads about every 4th day in the summer. They’re a foot tall by day 7. No thanks.
If you want trouble free, drought free turf grass, Bermuda is your answer.

How would you keep that all consistently watered to germinate and establish it? You have access to seed, but if you have to buy it, what I’ve seen seems expensive. But I do see that of the Bahia varieties, it makes the best appearance for a lawn.
