No empirical evidence to show, just personal experience. Female dogs have always been closer to me while male dogs have been closer to my wife. Different breeds, full blooded, mutts, didn't matter. Doesn't matter. It depends on what you're looking for in a dog. I'll get a female hunting dog that will stick with me out in the woods and pastures. I'll get a male dog to protect my family for when I'm gone. Just my personal experience.

Thanks. That’s what I was thinking.

I have a mutt that will stick right by my leg and not go after anything unless I tell her to. I take her everywhere with me, to work, hunting, to friends houses, to parties. At the same time, we have a 100+ lbs German Shepherd that would give his life protecting my wife and daughter. After a couple of years, you get to know the dog. We've had everything from Siberian huskies to corgies to pits. My wife picked up a catahoula on the side of the road, and she's the only female that was glued to my wife the way male dogs have been. That Shepherd would rip my face off if he thought I was hurting my wife or daughter, and I feed that boy.

The right dog finds you at the right time.
