he's made an error in 27% of games he's played in, for one.

Move Browell to 2nd and put the best fielding SS out there whether it be Nippolt, Kucherak, Roellig or Guidry and give it a look.

One of those is redshirting apparently because he hasn't played an inning yet. Two of those are guys that have proven they can't hit at this level.

So then you're looking at Kucherak as having to both be better than Brasswell at short and better than Milam at the plate. But without the playing time to adjust to the speed of the game at this level in the middle of conference play.

Do you know how unlikely it is that he would be able to pull that off?

The team's biggest struggle is hitting and you want to replace the guy who has the best batting average in SEC play by more than 100 points?

Shortstops generally make more errors than every other position.

Because like every season this place picks one player to pile unnecessary hate on and ignore other people struggling.

if guidry could hit SEC pitching he would have seen the field at ss . he has proven he doesnt have the bat so he in the bull pen. he looked terrible in all the scrimages i went to last two years. and i was pulling for him hard to unseat the ss last year.

I assume Roellig is RSing, as well.

I'm sure that JJ knows best but, I would like to see Kucherak and Nippolt get more playing time at SS is what I'm saying. What is hurting at this point by working them in? We've had good sample of what he's been running out there. Move Braz to 2nd and let Milam get some spot starts, DH and PH. See if any of these guys step up and shore up the middle.

1) He's one of our best hitters in SEC play.

2) He's on pace for 14 errors this year. For reference Josh Smith made 12 his last year with the team and was widely considered one of the best SS in the SEC.

3) He's probably turned more double plays this year than JT did in 3 years as a starter.

Not sure why people look at this team and think that Braswell at short is a/the problem.

He obviously knows more than anybody else. He has a resume and a ring.

When did Guidry not hit in practice? October? When did he pitch well, last June?

He has had chances to prove he can hit here and he hasn't done it.

I’m sure he could hit just as well as rest of middle infielders; and he’d be more fiery doing it lol.

You think he can hit .393 against SEC teams and get on base over 50% of the time? What makes you think that?

Last I checked Braswell didn’t walk 23 batters against Arkansas. Like it’s been said 100 times in this post already, he is our leading hitter in SEC play. If you want to blame someone for our struggles then start with a random name out of the bullpen and work from there.

I'm not for taking his bat out of the lineup just moving him to 2nd to see if we get stronger defensively

He already has 9 errors and there and he has been gifted a couple ruled hits. Smith having only 12 errors is good thing.

You're wrong. JT had way more DPs than you either remember or giving him credit. Arm strength and range are not comparable either.

It is problem when weak grounders get through, he lobs a ball across that gets beat out or he boots a ball that prolongs an inning and we end up giving up 3 or 4 with two outs.

Guidry didn’t swing a bat from March until July. IMO once he moved to the bullpen to help the team, his chances for ever playing SS ended. At the very least, it was a very uphill struggle. He has also struggled to put on weight regardless of the nutrition plans…….he burns way too many calories. He decided in January he would be a PO because he had already lost so much time acclimating to SEC hitting.

Brasswell is the best option for SS and has done pretty well. People need to find another person to blame!

Just give it up man. Braswell is our best option at SS and that isn’t changing this season.

Stronger defensively?!?!? Dude every time we put someone in they game they have an ERA > 5.00. And you think fielding is the issue?

What good are arm strength and range if you can't field the ball and throw it to first.

If you're referring to the slow roller against Arkansas 1) there's no guarantee that if he fields that ball it results in an out... looked a lot like an infield base hit 2) if you want to blame that game on anything blame it on the fact that we had bases loaded in the 6th with no outs and pushed across 1 run.

Thats your problems right there bullpen, underperforming vets and untimely hitting. Point the finger right there.

Braswell has the best batting average in SEC play for LSU. Yes, his defense has been in question as of late but he was subbed out after he was 1 of the 4 hits against Southern because of an error. Milam was subbed in. So he has tried someone else fyi. But his bat is the best we have of the middle infielders. Can't afford to take him out.

I guess everyone just got used to ripping our shortstop last year that this is a trend

We should have a top flight SS almost every season, and it has been a minute.
