I mean you do realize that teachers don't dictate many of these rules. Probably sent down from central office to the principals who passed it on to the teachers.

Which is less expensive:
1. Providing adequate eye-protection and training teachers and students to use it to safely observe a partial eclipse.

2. Getting sued by fly-by-night ambulance chasers when students stare at the sun.

3. Just staying inside and having school like normal during the eclipse.

Aren't you in an area that will get the total eclipse or pretty close to it?

Dude, the last one across America happened 7 years ago.

Monday will be the third partial eclipse in Nola since 2017. There was one last October.

Yes. We are already seeing people showing up for the weekend in smaller towns. Many required a min 2 or 3 night stay bc the demand was so high and those towns don’t have a lot of rooms. The lake is going to be almost unmanageable on Sunday.

My statement stands.

The kids are too dumb to be trusted to not stare directly at the sun. That is an incredible indictment on the teacher's ability to educate.

My kid's school is letting them out for 10 minutes during and issuing some eclipse glasses to each student.

They may have what the sun will look like correct but the sky won’t get dark outside of the totality path like they have it. They have the sky getting dark in Louisiana. This simulation was made by a smoothbrain.

finally a school district insisting kids spend more time in the class room instead of less. this is particularly good news to New Orleans students....

Correct. If it's a clear day, the sky gets an odd hue to it, but not darkness.

Ouachita Parish Schools are doing the same. They even had teachers posting notes in the classroom saying they weren’t counting absences Monday and would be putting assignments online.
