Wearing this one today:

No one is actively choosing a Tudor Sub or BB Chrono over a Rolex Sub or Daytona if they have the ability and means to do so.

I disagree with that. I've picked up two GMTs from AD's in the last 6 mos (126710BLNR Jubilee and 126711CHNR that is in the pic above), and have still have a Pelagos 39 on my list because I prefer it to the 6 digit subs. I have a 35 year old 16610, but would like to add a ceramic bezel diver and like the one line of red text on the P39 dial as a nod to its Rolex heritage. I'ts also a good chance I'll grab a BB Pro at some point in time because I don't like the 42 mm case of the 216570 or newest 226570 Expl 2.

Tudor is positioned totally differently in its current incarnation than what it was up until it went away in North America in the early 2000's.

Absolutely, especially in the enthusiast realm. There are definitely some pieces that I could see cross shopped, but if you want a modern (literally not aesthetically) smaller diver what are you going to buy from a Rolex catalogue? A Black Bay 54 (37mm) fits that bill.

First, oddly I was looking at your (what appears to be) a vintage MCM desk. My wife has one similar in her home office.

I agree with you. The post US reintroduction Tudor line stands on its own. Saying someone only buys Tudor because they can't manage a Rolex is simply wrong, maybe some but I don't think the majority and definitely not all. In the first 2 years of them coming back into the US I bought 2 Black Bays (the original burgundy and then the black dial) because I loved the gilt hands/dials and a Pelagos because it was something completely different and arguably a better tool watch than anything Rolex makes. At the time I had either 4 or 5 Rolex dive watches and it was definitely not an either or situation for me.

At this point it is a bit like telling someone they bought any watch priced below a similar Rolex because they can't afford the Rolex.

Speaking of Tudor, I heard yesterday that Adler's in NOLA lost its AD status for Rolex (and presumably Tudor) as well as Cartier. I had just bought a Cartier and Nomos while down there for my daughter's wedding in Dec of this past year. I was sorry to hear that.

Damn Obtuse you have a good eye. It is indeed - Danish (Peter Lovig Nielsen) from 1965 I believe. Goes well with the Eames desk chair.

Paul's in Lafayette recently lost it's AD status for Rolex as well, I purchased an Explorer 124270 from them last year.

Unfortunately we don't have an Tudor AD's here.

My wife's is a Lovig Dansk designed by Peter Lovig Nielsen from 1960. I have a Herman Miller by George Nelson in my office. She prefers the Danes and I prefer the 'Mericans. You obviously like both given the chair came from the mind's of Charles and Ray.

Recently bought these:
Love this one.

Also this one: It's too small but all steel. Macy's 3 day shipping is a joke.

I admire the Willards from afar - don't own one, but especially like the one with the olive green bezel insert and dial.

Love mine. I have a lot of turnover but this one has stuck around. I do kinda wish sometimes that mine had the green ceramic bezel.

Is the dial green? My colorblind eyes said gray at first glance.

What do those skins run? I'm guessing no where near the $40k of a real one.
