and a trainer can certainly help, but he can't manufacture basketball skills.

Perhaps he can fine-tune a few things, and improve conditioning, but it's 98% HVL's innate talent that makes the difference. That and practicing basic basketball guard skills in the off-season, with or without a trainer.

It ain't rocket science.
