I would think someone on his staff should have told him the whole story about teams and the anthem. My understanding is that most teams are in the locker rooms for it. But it's not the first time politicians open their mouth and put their foot in it.

Mulkey and woke don’t belong in the same sentence. The sad thing is our governor threw probably the most conservative person in WBB under the bus with a half baked tweet.

This is an LSU university issue of being woke and thanks to JBE allowing it to become woke U

You mean that backwoods USL moron right? Otherwise, you don’t know a thing about Mulkey or LSU Sports.

Let’s get this shite straight… LSU Football has been “woke” since as long as I have followed them which goes back for 6 decades. Gotcha.

Landry must know that forcing student-athletes to stand for the national anthem — while perhaps preferable and certainly respectful — is unenforceable as a freedom-of-speech issue

Dumb arse “journalists” didn’t even read what Landry suggested. He never said this.

Everything he touches turns to shite. So LA felt the need to elect this loser.
People bitch about JBE, but sandwiched b/t Jindal and this fricking dumbass, JBE looks like a genius.

I’m not sure what the hell “woke” other than people talking shite about other people taking shite. I’m too damn old and too damn grumpy to listen to half-wits in the media or on whatever channel people choose to watch, read or listen to. People in this country are just stupid - that includes the entire last 5 generations. I blame people of my generation for this shite in a lot of ways raising these dumb arse kids.

The government compelling "speech" by threatening to taking something away would definitely violate the First Amendment.

Just change out the being present for the anthem with being present for a gay pride event and the same people agreeing with Landry would be marching to the state capital.

In an otherwise promising couple of months to start his tenure as Governor, this was quite an embarrassing and UNNECESSARY misstep for him. I'm certain he won't apologize, but he definitely needs to let this go.

As I have stated many times, my family suffered through lost lives and limbs from serving and what he is stating is just the opposite of how they feel - not that it’s a protest issue in this case nor it has been since the 60’s with LSU football. Landry is looking for clicks and using this as a political move but he underestimated who he attacked was more respected and popular than him.
She should run for governor and shame the whole lot of them.

Why? She was a near perfect student in college. Was perfect in high school. She is everything you want in an elected official - Blue Dog in so many ways.

People in Louisiana are flat out stupid.

He’s playing a dumb game. With all the problems in LA he’s setting himself up to be blown up. Imagine a scenario where Mulkey came back and asked if he could focus on lowering insurance rates in LA and leave the bball to her. His approval would tumble.

Landry is one of the poster boys for psycho-extreme conservativeitism, ever in search for problems for their moronic solutions…

This is what people fail to realize, it's the principle of the matter, not the actual standing for the anthem that is the issue. You would think a guy who was previously the HEAD ATTORNEY OF THE STATE OF LOUISIANA would have more respect for our Constitution, but just like 99% of politicians on either side of the aisle, all he cares about is greasing his own palms and securing more votes and political prowess
