Three more tornadoes were confirmed this afternoon from Wednesday morning's severe weather. An EF-1 was confirmed between Lacassine and Welsh, An EF-1 was confirmed in central Lake Charles and an EF-1 was confirmed near Holmwood. This brings the total in our region to 10.

Seven tornadoes have been confirmed so far from Wednesday's severe weather. One in Lake Charles (EF-2), two in Cameron parish (both EF-1), one in Port Arthur (EF-2), one near Thistlewaite (EF-1), one along Highway 103 (EF-1) and one just outside of Church Point (EF-1).

A little Alabama tornado climatology since the year 2000. So far in 2024, Alabama has recorded 16 tornadoes, 4 of which have been in the NWS Birmingham 39-county forecast area. 16 is the fewest tornadoes at this point in the year since 2015 (12), 2014 (6), and 2010 (8). #alwx

Birmingham has been largely spared. They've been getting more cold, stable air and stratiform rain instead of the tornadoes closer to the coast.
