Trust but verify has morphed into distrust and examine. At least for me. But the general public is snowed. You may have seen the studies done in the UK that if someone is wearing a white coat and holding a clipboard (symbols of authority), the majority of the public will give them passwords in exchange for a chocolate bar, etc.?

It's a mess.
