I don't "need" anything Bit if I was asked if I preferred the layout this morning to the current layout, I prefer the older one.

for desktop users, can you tell me why the paging is needed on the forum index topics?

I go to the last page (or one of the last few pages) of a large thread and then start scrolling down reading posts. Obviously now I can just go to the last post, scroll up, then start scrolling down. It's just a little more inconvenient now.

Love the change.

Looks so much cleaner and easier to read.

Last Page Read feature
Desktop users will notice that we removed the paging links next to each thread title on the forum index pages. In it's place will be a way to get to the last page you have read in a thread. It will appear if you have advanced to beyond page 1 of a thread.

No more making 15 bookmarks of one thread.

Oh nevermind...don't see this functionality on mobile.

Most of the changes are behind the scene to improve page performance and revamp some old code. There are some aesthetic changes (nothing earth shattering) and some new features, with more on the way.

I do not like the aesthetic changes, especially if they were changes you chose to make and not just casualties of the improved performance. This place is what it is in large part due to how beautiful it looks and how easy it was to navigate. That and the wonderful users of this (previously?) great site, the undisputed best message board on the entire interwebs. (You're welcome).

I just hope you haven't unnecessarily fallen into the trap of so many other tech CEOs before you who have taken the thing that made you great and changed it for change's sake. Or because you're too big galavanting around the world on G5s, hobnobbing with your billionaire peers, sipping apple martinis on big-arse yachts, drinking Adrenochrome harvested from the glands of Chinese infant girls, while stepping away from the day to day work, leaving it to your much inferior subordinate coders.

However, I trust you as the architect of this behemoth of a board and the one of the considerable fortune and empire you've amassed. For now, Cluckster.
For now.

I used to go to setting to see a list of my posts. I did this to see if anyone had replied.

I don't see that in settings page anymore.

Maybe there is another way to see replies?

Nevermind...I found it.

desktop or mobile?

On desktop, just click "Posts" at top left of the page. This has always been there.

On mobile, click the hamburger menu in the top left of the page and you will see "Posts" under your username.

I know the screen shot appears normal, but when you hit reply that font size is normal to me. May just be me and my phone. Sorry for the blurry pic. I tried twice to get it clearer.

I like the go to last page you read icon but perhaps in the future we could improve that to going directly to the last post that was available when you were on that page.

Lynyrd, what exactly is the issue? that screen shot looks ok to me.

Because the trend in UI design is for crisp and clean formats rather than functional ones.

And that sucks so much. Every single site and program I use at work has "updated" so that it takes more clicks to get to the same place. How is anything that takes more clicks really an improvement?

Pretty sure it doesn’t, just looks that way. It reverts back when you refresh a second time. Let me test with first DVing your post.

ETA: stand corrected. Thank you.

This is not new. The only new thing on the votes is that it turns a solid color. You always could change your vote by refreshing the page.

I don't like that the board doesn't show you how many pages a thread is anymore. Sure, you can look at the number of replies and take a guess but it's nice to be able to see what's poppin just by looking at the thread on the board.

you don't have to refresh the page in order to change your vote...you can just change it and the change is registered...refreshing just updates the display, but not necessary for the changes to be saved.

Boat, take this thread as an example:

quote:

Fossils in Greece Suggest Human Ancestors Evolved in Europe, Not Africa (Page 1 2 3 ... 19 20 21)

are you just interested in knowing that there are 21 pages? or is it important to see all those numbers?

I never used those paging links and have always used the Replies column to tell me that a thread is long.
