Yes, hence why I'm getting the government sponsored forgiveness when I signed up for them years ago, knowing that if I followed this path the loans would be forgiven. Does your mortgage have the option to work in the government sector for less money and make 10 years of payments? If so, then yeah, you should be forgiven.

10 years is far too short of a time to earn a little less to get $200K forgiven.

I bet you look down on people using LA purchase cards, though.

a lot of government jobs no longer pay "less money", which is why so many pension plans are poorly funded

You’re confused. The gov’t has no money with which to “forgive you.” I had to pay your loans off. I already paid my own loans off and now I get to pay yours off. I’ll try not to think any longer about it, but part of me hates you with a fiery passion. Ok, all of me

It’s highly likely that you weren’t employable outside of government.
