Palm tree disease - Louisiana

Garden guy came by today…. Trying to freshen up the yard before moving. We have 3 windmill palms behind the pool, one of which is failing for some reason.

We’re moving to a place nearby with big fan palm of some sorts. And I’d like to add at least one more to block our neighbors view into our yard.


He advised me not to get a new palm planted. Said there’s a disease coming through that will likely wipe out the overwhelming majority of palms within the next 3 years….


Is this hyperbole or is this legit concern? That’s news to me. If it’s already been discussed here, I tried search function and google search.
