I have some strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries in early growth period so no fruiting just yet.
....but I've been picking some solid dingleberries for a while now.

I remember this as a kid.
Good times.
Good times.

The only thing I miss about White Castle is living by cane fields and there were always berry patches on the gravel roads as you entered.

I grew up in the country in Washington Parish and remember picking buckets of red and black berries that grew wild along the fences around my Grandpa's farm! I miss those days!

The word “yore” means a long time ago.

I was just messing with him. You know I'm all about obscure old language

Years ago I had found a bunch of wild blackberry vines out in N.O. east off Michoud Blvd. not far off the interstate and would pick tons of them when they came into season.
Unfortunately, over the years feral hogs started taking over that area and after that, I could never find ripe berries again. Damn hogs destroyed the vines getting at the berries.
How they eat those berries off those thorny vines amazes me.

Blacker the berry, sweeter the juice.

Found some this morning near the office. Will be picking these over lunch.

Just a heads up Herschal, if you haven’t picked those mulberries before the stems don’t come off, you pretty much have to hold by the stem and bite the berry off, they are damn good but a way more stubborn juice in the stain department. Not sure what work is but count on purple fingers until tomorrow.

They've been great this year. I have tons of them right behind my house

Look at them closely before popping them in your mouth. My experience is every mulberry tree I've picked form I've seen very tiny worms roaming around the balls of the berry-----so check them carefully if eating them right off the tree.

Times are tough, baw, you take the free protein when you get it.
But, yeah. If you want to see what's on a berry like that just put a handful in a ziplock bag, put it in the sun for a bit, and wait. You may never eat another berry again. Or, like I said......just enjoy the free protein.

It doesn't really bother me, but I showed this to my wife one time and she will not eat another mulberry now.
When she saw me popping them in my mouth to eat after I showed her, she looked at me like I had 2 heads and both of them were on backwards.

Yeah , you get a little crunch in berries every now and then. Biting into a stink bug. Sucks though.

Bro I used to pick dewberries, huckleberries, and my fav mulberries from various bushes/trees we had at my grandparents. I would take them back and my grandmother would make the most delicious cobblers out of them. I have such fond memories of this time in my life. The summer days would last forever and you didn’t have a care in the world.
I’m tearing up just posting this and wishing I could go back in time.
