If a kid gets here for spring practice, looks arounds and figures out it's either beyond his capabilities or beyond his effort level to contribute here, then we should be glad he cut bait immediately.

We put enough effort in him to flip him from Ole Miss last summer, which i assume took some sort of NIL deal. Definitely a weird situation. He has a track record of jumping all over the place.

I kinda saw this coming, when he committed it was as a Center, I think he was our lowest rated OL, then real late in the process we picked up Echols and he immediately took over as 2nd Center while Cryer was a 3rd Guard. With how Coach Davis is recruiting he probably never would've seen the field, look at the IOL committed or trending to us. He found out real quick the level of talent being brought in here and realized he wasn't going to be able to contribute.

Not sure of the reasoning behind it but considering OL is one of Kelly's specialties and we also have what I believe is the best OL coach in the country, I have zero worry here.

Wonder if he's Ole Miss bound. Was a late flip

I know of a kid who transferred to an SEC school for football in January and they’re already looking for his replacement. fricking tough business. I guess sometimes ‘your shot’ is ten practices and a spring game.

A guy like this transfers because he knows he’ll never see the field at LSU.

May have even been told to transfer to make room for someone else in the portal

Someone offered him more money. Isn’t NIL and the transfer portal great!

Actually, it’s just the opposite. If the kid realizes he can’t compete for meaningful playing time, he should move on and open the door for another kid that wants to be a Tiger. This is better than having him take up a roster spot on scholarship only to be passed on the depth chart by younger, better players every season.

Anyone thinking that maybe this was an encouraged decision by the coaches? Doesn't seem like a bad thing for either side. This opens a spot for us to use this year on a D lineman.

Can NIL be a contractual obligation to stay on the roster/enrolled through the specific season?

Didn't a player burn Iowa recently after pocketing NIL money to transfer and then turned around and got back in the portal?

Looking at his offer list, it seems he did not have many offers from top tier schools.
