Probably has to do more with the fact that the beer was ditchwater than it being woke.

This. The beer was piss when it was named Dixie, which is why it needed a revival in the first place. They should have focused on making it good beer.

Ehh, they were sort of poised to be our regional version of Rainier, Lone Star, Narragansett, etc. Beers that people buy for nostalgia sake more than because they love the beer. Keep the old name and labels, and make something simply passable as far as drinking, and profit accordingly. You would never be huge nationwide, but you have a ready-made niche that could continue basically forever.

Oh well.

Well, people actually still drank that ditch water when it was the same label that dad and granddad drank back in the day. When you told those people their beer was racist, they simply moved on to other ditch water beers. They had nothing but the name and they threw it away.

Dixie had one thing going for it: A nostalgic name that people bought.

Killing the name was 100% the dumbest shite that guaranteed failure

..and they built the facility in NO East. I don't care how nice it is, that will deter most from ever going

That combined with Covid and name rebranding it was doomed to fail

Back in the day, I drank Dixie because it was a Louisiana product and actually bought a few packs of Picayune cigarettes.

I miss neither.

This along with the brewery being in the East. I liked going out there because my kids could run around while we had a few brews and hung out but the location made our visits infrequent.
